Award Winning WebAR Experience for Hope For Haiti

Introduction
In the aftermath of the 2021 earthquake, Haiti faced daunting challenges in Healthcare, Water Access, Education, and Economic Development. "Hope for Haiti" emerged as an immersive WebAR experience, seeking to shed light on these issues and inspire positive change.
Inspiration
The inspiration for this project stems from the profound belief that small acts of awareness and engagement can spark tremendous positive change in the world. By immersing users in the experiences of individuals in Haiti, we aim to inspire empathy, understanding, and a shared commitment to making a difference. It's a reminder that every action, no matter how small, can contribute to a brighter and more hopeful future, not just for Haiti but for the world as a whole. Together, we can be the catalyst for positive transformation.
Approach
Opting for a strategic narrative approach, I designed "Hope for Haiti" to consist of four distinctive scenes, each dedicated to a specific department—healthcare, water access, education, and economic development. This deliberate choice allowed for a detailed exploration of the unique challenges within each sector. Users actively engaged with the narrative elements, making decisions and experiencing the profound realities of Haiti. Let's delve into each scene:

1. Healthcare Scene
Users discovered a medical kit, initiating a journey into the complexities of healthcare in Haiti. Through storytelling and interactions, they gained insights into the challenges faced by individuals like Vila and the transformative impact of organizations like Hope for Haiti.

2. Water Access Scene
Positioned near a water source, users activated a sink to emphasize the importance of clean water. The scene provided information about the re-emergence of cholera in 2022 and highlighted Hope for Haiti's efforts in providing sustainable solutions for clean water access.

3. Education Scene
Users engaged in an interactive corn-throwing experience, representing the challenges in education. The scene illustrated the scarcity of quality education in Haiti and showcased Hope for Haiti's initiatives, including teacher salary subsidies, training, and public health education.

4. Economic Development Scene
The final scene unfolded as a discovery of a voucher on a school desk. Users learned about the impact of donations, vouchers, and scholarships, concluding the immersive experience with a call to support Hope for Haiti's economic development programs.

Through features like physics simulation, proximity, world tracking, and raycasting, every interaction was designed to educate the user and contribute to a brighter future.

UI (User Interface)
The UI was meticulously crafted, employing a color-coded representation of different departments. For the UI layout, 8th Wall's guideline for good UI practises. This thoughtful design, strikes a harmonious balance between homogeneity and distinctiveness. It facilitates seamless navigation, ensuring users effortlessly transition through scenes while maintaining a consistent visual identity.
